The Lord's Blessings

Gen 12:1-3
12:1 Now the LORD had said to Abram:
"Get out of your country,
From your family
And from your father's house,
To a land that I will show you.
2 I will make you a great nation;
I will bless you and make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing.
3 I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed."
NKJV

These are verses that Jews and Christians take seriously. God was saying to Abram, who later became Abraham, that if anyone didn’t treat him or his family right that person would have the true and living God of the Bible to contend with. It was through this promise to Abram, their father, that the Jewish people came to inherit the land of Israel as their own forever. This is a promise that no one else has the right to interfere with. The land belongs to the Jewish people. It does not belong to anyone else. If God had wanted anyone else to have that land, he would’ve given it to them, but he gave it to the Jewish people.
At this particular point in time, we have a man who calls himself our president that hates Israel. He is insisting that the Jewish people cannot build their homes in territories that were given to them by God. He has endangered their ability to defend themselves by refusing to allow them to use our air strips in the various middle eastern countries and has treated them badly when they came to the White House a few weeks ago. He has also supported the Arab nations, sworn enemies of Israel. This is flat out meddling in Israeli affairs.
To take this a little further, we supposedly elected Obama as our president. We elected a man that hates Israel? God’s chosen people? Well, by fair means or foul, Obama sits in our White House. He is our representative to Israel and the rest of the world.
Up to this time, we have been a particularly blessed nation. No other nation in history has received the blessings that America has and that is because of our friendship with Israel. We have been getting away with so many horrible sins but God has been merciful to us because of our friendship with the Israeli’s.
But those days are drawing to a close. We have a border dispute with Mexico over whether we accept their illegal immigrants or not. The geography of this nation will change drastically if we do not become the friend Israel needs us to be once again. Talk is cheap and God knows our hearts. Are we going to be Israel’s friend or not? Are we going to honor God or not?
